Athletics is available to all people with a disability and they compete in most of the same events as their able-bodied counterparts.
Athletics has been part of the Paralympic programme since 1960, and events are open to males and females in all disability groups.
The timing and measuring systems used in the Paralympic Games are identical to those used at the Olympic Games.
Athletics for Youth
Parafed Waikato is working with Athletics Waikato to ensure that athletes with disabilities are included in their school events and can qualify for AWD events at the Waikato Bay of Plenty Secondary School Zone Championships.
You can compete for your school – just ask your Sport Coordinator!
